I am looking to upgrade my computer....I have a (2002) Dell Dimension 4500S....Only upgrade has been a G-Force FX 5200 PCI vid card...(128 i think).........How do I make my computer powerful enough to be able to play AH, and even more so- MSFS2004 with full graphic settings?

I have a Dell Dimension 4600. I have run AH on it for a couple years. This last version forced me to pump up my RAM from 512mb to 2g. Other than that, it's still the same as it was when I bought it, FX5200 AGP, onboard sound.

I play 5-6 hours a day.

if he has the same hw you has with the only upgrade done beeing the ram then i just made that conclusion. no idea what other stuff he has in his system tho.

If you have a PCI video card, then you really should not spend any more money on the computer. The PCI video card is going to kill your performance, no matter what.

Time to plunk down the change for a new box, or build one.

dang...I do have a PCI...Maybe I will treat myself to a new machine around the time CT comes out....Anyone have any suggestions for new computers that would be good for AH

Dang, Skuzzy beat me to it. The difference is the PCI card. it just can't perform like an AGP. You might look to see if you have an empty AGP slot, then you would just have to get a new vid card, which is relatively cheap compared to getting a new computer.

Don't know if you have an AGP? Just go to dell.com and put in your service tag number. That should give you access to the specs page for that machine. I had to do that when I was looking for RAM to see what was the fastest type my moboard could run.

Don't want to mess with it and want a new puter? Dell just bought Alienware.
