This Is Just So Awful on Many Levels
« on: May 18, 2006, 08:14:14 AM »
Per my post on the "Free Press" thread, I figured I go to the horse's mouth on some matters.  This is quite disturbing.  A fellow I know told me his son-in-law works for Homeland Security . . . or was it CIA I can't recall.  He told me last summer, that the agency for whom his son-in-law works intercepts daily, the sense of what he said was more akin to "thwarts daily" attack attemps upon America.

As things progress, and I fear they shall progress badly, knowing what folks in Iraq and Iran read will inform and probably disquiet us.  Well, here you go.  Not a long read, and not a happy one.

The piece below I copied from the "Iran Daily."  Is this not worse than the cold war?

ARAK, Markazi, May 17--President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday nothing can stop the Iranian nation from exercising its legal right to access peaceful nuclear technology.
Speaking at a public gathering in Arak during his 13th provincial tour, the chief executive said the nation will not accept any suspension of uranium enrichment, since its acceptance three years ago resulted in bitter results that are recorded in the national history, IRNA reported.
“We have so far been complying with all relevant laws and those accusing us of violating laws should themselves act according to laws first,“ he said.
The president called on world powers not to stop governments and nations, which have signed NPT and intend to access peaceful nuclear energy, from joining or cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“The enemies believe that the Iranian nation needs them to make progress in scientific, industrial and agricultural fields, while this is not true,“ he said.
Ahmadinejad noted that the Iranians seek nothing beyond their legal rights.
“The enemies should know that any decision disregarding the rights of the Iranian nation will not be officially recognized.
They should be aware that their call for suspending the country’s enrichment process will be dismissed,“ he said.
Commenting on his letter to US President George W. Bush, Ahmadinejad said that he spoke on behalf of the people of Iran and the world’s five continents, adding that he mainly aimed to invite the US president to follow the path of prophets.
“The problem facing the world today is that world powers and some countries have refused to respect the cultures of prophets, monotheism, divine laws, justice, benevolence, peace, affection and kindness,“ he said.

He may not have that classic cold war bad guy flair that Krushchev had, but he's just learning this supervillan thing. Give the boy a fair chance and he'll do just fine.

Is it not better to amputate the seeping wounded infected limb before gangrene sets in?
