Joystick problem
« on: May 05, 2006, 09:23:43 PM »
I use a Saitek X52 stick, and until the latest patch, I had my RPM control mapped to the slider on the throttle, and all worked fine.  Now when I enter the game, I have very little throttle input, and the only way I can have use of the throttle is to unmap the rpm control completely.
I find that the game seems to get really confused if I try to map the throttle input for more than one engine to the throttle axis, and all goes haywire if I try to map any rpm control to the slider.  I have tried various combinations but with no luck.
Is this a bug, or am I not doing something right?  All I really want to do is have all engines synch to the throttle, and all rpm synch to the slider.  Before, I was able to add rpm control if I kept the throttle on default input, and it worked, but was limited. Now even that isn't working, as stated above.
Anyone got the dope on this?

I had the same problem until I had to uninstall AHII and do a clean re-install due to other reasons (had to do with video/display settings).  It did work when I tried setting the stick up again, but I decided to play around some more and it happened to me again-- but basically I just clicked "set all inputs" and "set all buttons" and started from the beginning.

Hopefully it's as simple as that, but I had a hard time making it work before I reinstalled.  Not sure if Dowloading it again would do anything for you though, I had to do it for totally different reasons... not to mention setting your custom settings up agan...

I got it to work, but have run into a different problem now.  The trick I used was to recalibrate the stick, and while in calibration mode, work all sliders and knobs to their full travel as well as the throttle, rudder, and stick.  Then set all inputs, and start fresh on setting the throttles, and rpm to slider. Apparently the game sees them as an axis, and needs the calibration (best guess).
Seems to have worked.
But now, I have other problems that are not apparently stick related. >sigh<
