Mac and PC on a wireless router??
« on: May 12, 2006, 01:55:48 AM »
Can anyone tell me how you set up the securit for a wireless router when both Mac and PC will be on it ??
Situation - my brother wants to put a wireless router on his ADSL modem. The house desktop is an iMac and his laptop is an iBook. The desktop would be hard wire connected.  His daughter has a PC laptop though....

Can  we setup WPA for the PC ? Does Mac run WPA ( I know zero about Macs) how do we set this up to be secure ?

Advice anyone ??

I've done it last week: it's possible if the Mac OS is at least Mac OS 9. It may be possible for previous versions but I've never tried it.

The airport application on Mac OS 9 could only be encrypted with WEP 64bits. I hope for Mac that WEP 128 and WPA are available in the more recent OS.

WPA is no problem Sparks

I use WPA2 in my network with a mix of Windows and OSX puters.
