Blast radius

Wish some info on the blast radius was given.

I.E.
10 ft 90%

20ft 75%

40ft 50%

60ft 0%

Not really important but I'd like to know.
Drones don't make precision bombing any better.  They are always off from the lead bomber.  Great for area bombing, not for hq building bombing.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

I read your post about HQ raiding in the other forum, and I get where you're coming from with this question. However, keep in mind that the drones are fairly close together and the HQ is a fairly large building. Most small salvos will all hit the target. B17 with its small load should have all 6x 1k and all drone eggs hit on the top of the HQ directly. If (if) you have trouble getting this to happen slow the bombers down so there is less horizontal spacing between bombs as they drop.

Back to the question at hand -- I'd like to know as well but specifically for use against GVs. I'm curious as to how close "close" is.

Is there a chart that gives the absolute radius?  I know a 2,000lb bomb has a bigger radius than a 100lb bomb, but I have no idea how big either are.

Then, yes, the damage drop off would be very useful.

I have a feeling there may be some "random fragmentation" involved too. I have been bombed & sent to tower while in a GV - I see the bomb hit, think to myself I'll be ok, it was a ways off. Then I hear metal on metal clang & *tower*

I have also been near the edge of an incline (small ones even) & the bomb hits on the other side of this & it's very VERY close to me, but I survive.

ANd I have been close to an impact, think "I'm toast" & survive...but no  clang

My point is, I think there are a few variables to the "blast radius" besides just - How large a circle around the bomb impact area does damage.

Some of what you describe could be due to "spatial relativity" of where you see the bomb hit and where the dropper sees the bomb hit (think collision model for a sec).

Then again, I have seen carpet bombs drop all around vehicles that don't "pop" as you think they would.

Still, I would think "fragmentation" would be more difficult to model than a pure radius -- so if there is fragmentation, I am very impressed!

Hell, I dropped a pair of thousand pounders within inches of a Panzer not long ago, and not only did he keep driving, when he WAS popped didn't even get an assist. :p
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I like this idea Kermit... with the bombing of GV's porked I understand in a sense.  Dealing with bombs and explosives all doy at work... I really understand!  When 2x 1,000lbers hit withing inches of a Tiger and he keeps rolling...

True enough. It would be neat to know, but probably one of the "code secrets" of AHII:noid
