Any ideas on a mail list server?

OK,

Say I want to push a newsletter once a month and I want users to be able to opt in and out.  What are my options?  A  service?  A mail server?

In that case... PHPList on your own server.

I use SurpassHosting.com for my webhost. It has PHPList available. I suspect that many other hosts will do the same.
