Dark Instrument Panel
« on: May 09, 2006, 02:27:23 PM »
:) Greetings :)

Is there ANY way that I could "BRIGHTEN" the coloring of my instrument panel in the cockpits of fighter planes?

Mine are all dark, even the guages, I still have a copy of "AcesHigh" & noticed that the instrument panel & guages were lite colored & easier to see, not so with Aces High II.

Ur advice/suggestions are most kindly solicited.  TY.

Cheers,

Happy1  :D

you sure it is in all the planes? or just the planes that have been redone/reskinned in AH2?

ie....P51 series, spit series, 109 series, P38 series, Ki-84, B24, and so on.........

for example, the F4U and F6f and Fm2 or F4f are still the same as they were in AH1 as far as instrument panels go.......

the ones I mentioned above are darker since they redone them......

Like TC said, the redone planes (P51, P47, Ki, Spit, 109, 190, P38. B24, B17) are a little harder to read. But they should not be unreadably dark. If you have a relatively dark display overall, try raising your gamma settings a bit (SETUP > PREFERENCES > Video).

If ALL planes are dark......... could be you need to update your vid drivers maybe....

It's not a sign of bad vid card drivers, but rather the sign of an old CRT monitor, if you can't hardly see the instruments with default gamma.

I know this first-hand. Gamma helps but has its own problems (it washes out all the colors, makes them hard to see). If you have to up gamma more and more as time goes by, you need to consider buying a new monitor.

Just a tip.

Dunno about that advice Krusty...I have a 19" flat panel with a 8 ms refresh and 700:1 contrast. Some panels - especially the reworked ones- are just plain hard to see from default front view.

I had to retire a 21 inch radius CRT because of color fade. I got into fights and the planes I was behind blended so well into the background I was wasting ammo on easy shots. I also had trouble determining wing/nose angles. WHen the plane colors camo matched both the water and land I knew something wasn't quite right. Come to find out my monitor was 1994 vintage. I guess 12 years is long enough to expect superlative service. Anyway, I bought a Dell 21 inch CRT for $82.00 online and I'm back to normal regarding being able to see and fight.

I still use the other monitor on one of my Apples. It works fine for word processing and other office type stuff.
