Radar improvements

Remove RADAR and SECTOR BAR functions from airfields and replace it with EWR installations and Radar sites as map objects.

Airfields should only have the tower as visible spotters. 10 miles and under for enemy/friendly show as DOT-map regardless of height. Destroying the airfield tower destroys the spotters and DOT-map.

Early Waring Radar sites should be SECTOR bar only as they were during WWII.  They should be similiar to any map object with several towers, several buildings, and AAA defences.  Destroying the towers destroys the EWR. Standard rebuild times.

Radar sites should be a several radar domes/towers with several buildings and AAA defences. Destroying the radar towers shuts down the site. Standard rebuild times.

Airfield towers should be bombable and would have the same effect of destroying the current radar tower.

Having EWR and Radar allow map builders to strategically place them for effective radar coverages.  It also makes the sites as strategy objects and completely independant of the HeadQuarters that is now tied to radar.  It also addresses a gameplay issue of placing emphasis on HQ attack, and more on pinpoint attacks for EWR and Radar sites.  In essense, it makes the game historical, and more interesting to play.  It also addresses historical radar coverages if required.

I like it Mr. Fork.

It's like Cities and Factories on the map...I don't think that these targets have the significance that they should.

I think you'd still have to have an HQ as central control, however.

Then that would bring up the scenario of estimated trajectory of contacts as they move froma sector with EWR that is up to one that is down. Mmmmm....

This could get complicated

Not complicated, increased tactical decisions on what targets you can bomb.  Early elements take out EWR, then tactical strikes on interior radar sites, and then, you can make a run at the HQ!

Taking out the HQ should perhaps take out all DAR, but maybe just sector counts (i.e. local radar stations).

Maybe another target - radio stations?

Good Plan Forkster!  :aok

I hope they take your advice and add this. Still would like to see them add a "Range Setting" so the CM's can dial the radar in to the Historical Year it happens to be representing in the particular set-up.
