Possibly Porked Arena ???
« on: May 22, 2006, 08:06:10 AM »
Mornin AvA Staff.  Not sure if it's porked or not, but the CV fleets are nowhere near where they should be, according to the MOTD !

As of 7:55 AM, CST, The Tirpizt, Rook CV fleet is sailing between Knight A45 and Rook P48.

The Two Bishop CV fleets are sailing between Knight A44 and Rook A42.

Just a Heads up, in case  somebody has moved the fleets where they don't belong.

As is normal,

Thanks Jaekart.  I just relocated the fleets.

What happens is this:  When you sink a fleet, it regenerates at its home port (which is the port with the number closest to the number of the fleet, e.g. Task Force 49's home port is P48, TF 8's is P7, and TF 37's is P36).  When Filth's raid sank the Tirpitz last night, it regenerated down by P48, and no one sailed it back to its nominal position for this setup.  In the future we can all pay closer attention to such things when we set up for the week, but until Fork told me about this I was completely clueless.  (Hey, no wise comments!)

So far we really haven't seen any griefers take command of the fleets.  It's possible for us remove the ability to take command, but I hate to lose that flexibility unless there's been clear abuse.  AND, now that you all know how it works, if someone manages to sink the Tirpitz again, one of you high seas pirate types can sail her back to her assigned patrol zone.

Works just fine for me OM.  As you saw, I threw no rocks and rocked no boats, just was not sure if something really needed to be fixed or not.

There were a couple of guys there early this morning, that were upping from Bish A6, likely tryin to figure out where to go, but as all the fleets were in a "wrong location", it was kinda pointless.

So Far, even tho I missed out on last night's "FiLth Super Mission", this is definately a "keeper" "week long" "doable" "future" scenario.  Once a month, maybe every other month. perhaps in a Quarterly Rotation.   I personally like flying the Blue Planes, whether against the LW or The IJN.

I would like to see it tried at least once again, with the possability of including "ONLY" the Seafire IIc, on at least "ONE" of the British CV's.  If, as is feared, only the Seafire gets used, then remove it from gameplay.  But I would still like to see it tried, if for no other reason than to see if the addition of the Seafire does indeed "unbalance" and "disrupt" the intended gameplay.

storch had an ingenious idea for this, >S< STORCH, as this is easily as good as the ETO RPS, that has found a decent attendance.  Perhaps it will be possible, in another weekly set-up, to use a few of the later war birds.  I'm not sure, and intend to do a bit of research, to see if the addition of say the F4U1-D or possibly the F4U-4, into the Maritime ETO, MTO, or North Sea Battles may be something of Interest to the AvA, and possibly attract new Pilots from the MA.

In any event, I give My Thanks, that somebody gave an Idea, others thought about it, and somebody had the "balls" to try it.   :aok

Just FYI, that's more of a coincidence than a design feature, and will not always apply. On that map, it so happened that the builder placed the port and then it's respective CV sequentially, resulting in that bit of seemingly intentional numerical sequence. Ports and CVs can have otherwise completely random and unsequential number assignments.

We all have a blind date with Destiny... and it looks like she's ordered the lobster.
