Did Tony Starcer put his nose art on both sides?
« on: June 05, 2006, 09:40:12 AM »
The modeler decal website Kev367th found actually has decals for my "Little Patches" and says "the nose art on the starboard side is conjectual".

Did Tony Starcer put his nose art on the mechanics side too? Anybody know?
Edit: Let me rephrase that, was he in the habit of doing both sides?

I need at least one more source, two would be better, before adding it there.

Either way, thanks.

Just waded through the history of the 91st BG.  It appears general practice in the group was to have nose art on both sides.  There were a number of examples that showed nose art on both sides and any photos of just the right side of the nose showed nose art.

I didn't see one specifically credited to Tony Starcer from the right side, but it would seem more then likely he'd have followed the group practice of having nose art on both sides.

OK found this.  Go here:

http://www.91stbombgroup.com/starcer.html

Using this list of Starcer painted nose art B17s and the photos in the 91st group history.  Any of those listed that I could find right side images showed nose art.

These include photos  that showed both left and right:

Delta Rebel II
General Ike
Careful Virgin
Lady Luck
Man O War

I think it's safe to say Starcer did nose art on both sides.
