Basicly .... yes .... the F4u has dive flaps attached to it's landing gear.
The p38-L or p47-D40 can use dive flaps at high speeds .... these are used by shift-c ... not attached to gear.
These basicly create only drag..... no lift.
Above 350 mph I think gears creak like they will break if you push it too long/hard. I've broken off gear in f4u's trying to slow out of a high angle dive, around 450 mph.
