Q: HQ damage settings!
« on: June 15, 2006, 04:57:06 PM »
in AH1, was posible to take down the HQ step by step, : enemy dot dar, friendly dot dar, enemy cnt, friendly cnt.  4500 lbs, for each/18000 lbs for total blindness,
I see those settings still on "country Strat/status " .  What for !??

Now, if a bomber pilot climbs 1 hour to 30k, and hits HQ with 27 000 lbs, gets nothing

imop, the massive HQ raids are fun with 10-20 are more formations , also fun to intercept, but the AH2 settings, me163s, and eassy resup mode,  dicourajed players to do it

Can we get some settings  similar wit the the old (AH1)  for  HQ damage ?
--also, if HQ gets hit, the bomber pilot should get payed better in perks/points
---don't give resup chances only after 15-20 min,  to encouraje players to attack /defend HQ

I agree with Ghi.
Hitting HQ is a waste of time and resources.  No drive for the enemy to hit it, or for the allies to defend it.

It took 10 b17 formations, over 2 hours to climb to 33k, level out and actually bomb HQ and then land.  Then we had to make a 2nd pass because if we dropped all of our bombs, half would not hit the HQ building.
BTW, it took 10 guys because some were killed before arriving to target, some did not calibrate correctly and some were killed during the 2nd pass.

Then we have to put up with 163s that are a nightmare to bombers.  At 33k, they are the biggest threat.

Hitting HQ requires time to climb to +30k level out, calibrate and bomb (precision bombing, not carpet bombing).

After that, in 15 min you have GV's dropping supplies at HQ.  They'll have it back up before you can even land.

It's faster to just grab lancasters and do an NOE with 1 formation and just dive bomb HQ.  Requires, less people, less time, and less effort.

Solution:
Make HQ more than 1 building.  (Maybe 4, 1 in each corner) Requires a change in the maps.
If it took 42lbs to destroy 1 hq building, then let it take 10.5k lbs of bombs to destroy each HQ corner building.

This prevents 1 dive bombing lancaster from taking down HQ by himself.
Also gives people a reason to climb to 30k in bombers and hit HQ.  This will also give some perks to the bomber crew, because as it is, it's the last guy that hits HQ to take it down that gets any perk points.

Damage table:
1 hq building down = No enemy dar bar
2 hq buildings down=No friendly dar bar
3 hq buildings down=No enemy dot dar
4 hq buildings down=No friendly dot dar
Time's fun when you're having flies.

Something needs changing.

People complain about dive bombing buffs but the way things are setup for HQ's its the easiest less time consuming way.

Would say keep the current hardness, but bring back the incremtal loss of dar again.

Although this is the 'flaw' in the current whole dar setup - HQ controls EVERYTHING, many suggestions (some excellent) have been put forward to improve it.

Would love to see the setup based on the RAF's sector control that was suggested way back implemented.

Basically 3 levels of dar - field, sector, and HQ.
Each field has its 'spotters' and fields are linked to sector radars which are in turn linked to HQ.

As long as HQ is up, all dars at all levels are visible throught entire map.
If HQ is down the only dars you see are from the local sector radars and fileds.
If HQ is down and the sector dar is down all you see is the dar associated with the closest field within the sector your in.

I agree, the HQ should have at least 30 min. down time without resup option . The masive HQ raids ussed to be one of the best fun in MA, unfortunatly are history with the AH2 settings:cry
