OK,

2 categories:

Best homemade recipie:

Best store bought brand:

Not the crap that you toss in the cart and sits in the fridge for 4 years.  Whats the best award winning stuff or real crowd pleasers?  Feel free for adding the best for.....  seafood, ribs, etc..

Well imo the best store bought crap is Bullseye. It's all I use, I have yet to find a homemade BBQ sauce I care for.

Gates is excellent; has good vinegar and pepper taste.

Jack's Stack is also excellent with perhaps even a bit more "bite".

Hayward's is the hottest in terms of pepper.

I don't bother making it anymore as these 3 are better than my best.

My wife favors a sweeter sauce and likes KC Masterpiece in most of it's variations.

If I'm making "homemade" I usually just blend various proportions of these 4 to create a "unique" sauce.

Sure, that's a lame cheat; makes some great sauce to your own taste though. Man, is it fast!

Since we travel we can't get much but the major names. When in KC we prefer the Jacks Stack. On the road we are lmited to Bullseye and KC Masterpiece.

Here's the problem with Bullseye... too much sugar. It burns and blackens.

Stubbs on the other hand, you can use to baste the entire time you're cooking a tri-tip.

...and the rub is excellent too.

James Gang Spicy BBQ Sauce

Bullseye?  I guess it's better than Kraft.

Gotta be Stubbs.

Bullseye is more like Bulls***. If I wanted to eat candy I'd buy candy, not bbq sauce.

Oh, and I ain't givin out my sauce recipe. Some things are sacred.

I tried stubbs sauce and it seemed a little TOO vinigery to me.  For store bought I prefer Jack Daniels Orriginal no 7, or the smoke house grill flavor.
