Doom 4?
« on: June 03, 2006, 09:10:36 AM »
Well, after being blown away by the graphics of Doom 3, and it being 2 years or so after the release, I was surprised that I couldnt find any news about the developement of doom4.  Anybody know if they are planning a doom 4.  I hope the ressurrection of evil mod isnt the last of it.

Doom 3 was pretty but overall, it was boring and tiresome.

Nothing but a lot of walking around waiting to set off some trigger that unleased the next monster.

Have you tried F.E.A.R ?

I just installed it today, and I think it is amazing. The way enemy move and the way the physics work.

But the last shooter I played was max payne 1, so maybe all shooters are like that these days?

Have not installed Doom3 yet, so I cant compare it.

There will not be a Doom IV. Paul Steed was one of the guys at ID software who presented Cloud and Carmack with the infamous threat "Either let us make Doom 3 or fire us." A lot of people wanted to make Doom 3, but some of the Powers That Be weren't too hot on the idea. In the end it was made, but Paul Steed was fired! Right now ID is currently making Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Sort of a combo between the original Quake and Q4. If you're interested, the source code to Q3 was released as GPL last year.
