missing the point
« on: June 03, 2006, 02:43:52 PM »
My point is that the one side that is vastly outnumbered & leaves few choices when it comes to game play.  No matter what is flown whether bombers, attackers or fighters there is a mob to face.  So that leaves skirting the edges & even then its rare to find a 1 on 1 that stays that way, always more spits or niks to join the fight.  Its frustrating to the average player & impedes their right to fly a shortie with some chance of success! with all the extra man power its usually difficult to avoid a mob of some kind.

Correct me if im wrong but doesnt side equalization work like this...

When 1 or 2 sides out number 1 badly ENY sanctions come into play BUT only along the borders where numbers are lopsided? meaning that if those players that still want to fly their 16s LAs & niks have to fly against the side that has closer numbers? Giving the low side an equal chance?

Sounds like most think side equalization means switching countries to fly what they want & i dont think thats the case? From my recollection, before ENY went soft, it was only a matter of jumping a few bases to fly a plane of my choice.

So why wouldnt some changes be fair for all? Because its definitely not that way now! Im sure its only a matter making an adjustment on HTCs part.

First of all, there's no need to create 17 threads.

Next, the real issue is the shift in the player population from enthusiasts to gamers. To the gamer mindset, they will attack whatever direction gives them the quickest, easiest access to either perks or a reset. That means either ganging up on the smallest country, or on the country that they see the other side is spending more forces attacking. That's why you so often see even odds, but two of the three sides focusing on attacking the third - regardless of how close any are to a reset.

ENY right now doesn't affect this dynamic effectively. And the MA mechanics reward it.

The current MA (IMO) wasn't geared for this many players or for this many players with a gamer mindset who would reduce the whole affair to a war of attrition (HO/ram, horde, mega-porking, etc.).

I don't know what, if anything, HT has in mind for the MA once he gets done with releasing CT (and comsuming mass quantities of Scotch afterwards). But I know he reads everything in the BBS so he knows a lot of people are unhappy about the direction the MA is heading.
