New PC, New problem getting in AH
« on: June 02, 2006, 11:30:55 PM »
My previous PC died, got another Gateway, with a Nvidia Gforce 6100 card.  My previous unit had a 6800, but card fried when PC died.
We managed after much effort to get everything loaded, controllers, pedals, and so on, but cannot get into game.
I was able at one point to download new additions, yet even after telling my firewall McAfee to accept AH, I sign on, get to new P51 and either no clipboard, or a clipboard with a black box, with cancel in it only.
If I reboot PC, I can get into game for a short while, it preloads the cache stuff, and then the clipboard goes dark, and the popup attachment to clipboard that appears for hanger selections, messages, ect, starts flipping around the darkened clipboard like a frisbee.
I seem to be able to get into off line arena with little trouble.

Rapier,

1st off make sure you update DirectX9 and Video drivers. I'm thinking that will cure most of your video issues.

If it takes full power to taxi to the hanger, your gear is probably up.

If the computer is a dual core system, right-click on the Aces High II startup ICON, select "Properties", then select the "Compatibility" tab and check the check box in that tab.

We did download the drivers, just to be sure.  The PC is running on Windows XP, and the compatibility box allows for Win 95, NT, 98, or 2000.  Is there a preference, or does the program pick the one most advantageous?
Thanks for the help and responses.  I wish there was a tech window to keep Shawk from shooting me down when I am in the game.  :))

Thank you for the help.  The drivers were updated, and in the compatability window, I chose Win 98, and am now in the game.  I can't seem to get my mic working on range and channel, but at least I am flying.  I calibrated my CH controller several times, and I still can't get the planes to hold auto pilot except when I am in a gun position in a buff.
Thanks to both of you and my buddy Carl for the help.  Now I just need a way to get tech support to keep SHawk from shooting my butt down.
