880 Sqn. Fleet Air Arm recruiting
« on: January 28, 2006, 11:56:43 AM »
880 Squadron Fleet Air Arm is recruiting! We are looking for pilots of all skill levels, old, new, experienced or the novice. 880 Sqn. is a historically minded squadron based on the real life Royal Navy 880 Sqn. that served in multiple theaters of World War II.

Most of our squad members have been involved in virtual-on-line-combat for many years now. This units history can be traced back to 416 RCAF in Warbirds and later 880 Squadron FAA in Aces High, before making the move to IL2 about a year ago, & now back to AH. Many of our members have been involved with CM and scenario design duties.

We employ voice comms wherever we fly. Most of our pilots are from Canada and the US, so our operations normally take place in prime time eastern standard time.
Our squad nights are Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sunday with Thursday nights as an optional night. We currently participate in the Allies vs. Axis arena, Wednwsday night snapshots, and will sign up for Friday night squad ops once we get a full roster.

We are a tight-knit group with much camaraderie and we value respect, professionalism and a good attitude even more than flying and skill. We seek to improve our skills daily but at the same time enjoy the fun that this great sim and the camaraderie or our squad has to offer.

Please come by our website, and give us a look. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

If so then i'm in.

Just wanted to bump this with the note that we are registering for Squad Ops and hope to participate in the next one.  If you are interested in flying the events that AH has to offer and are tired of flying "alone" please give us a try.

This is a good squad for beginners or those wishing to improve thier skills. There are some very expierienced & talented pilots here that are willing to help anyone out that wants to work as part of a team.

The gray-haired gent stood looking at the deserted hard-pan that once held fighter aircraft, his grandson held his hand, but only just. He was bored. The old pilot closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. The tang of av-gas still persisted. He was sure he could hear the deep cough of a Merlin starting up, a strong breeze on his face and a voice shouting as if from a long distance:

"Holder! Get the lead out! We've got a scramble!"

In surprise the gent turned about, opening his eyes. His old squaddie Skyfoxx was striding towards him, not a day over 22, grinning. "What's the matter, that beer and lass get to you last night?" Skyfoxx slapped him on the shoulder as he strode past to a waiting Spitfire.

In amazement Holder looked down to where his grandson should have been, in place of his hand was a leather flying helmet, with the name "Holder" written on the forhead. He hefted it, squeezed it over his ears and followed Skyfoxx towards the fighters.

"What the hell ... I'm back" he muttered under his breath.

Hi Trukjr,
Glad to hear it. I'm just dl'ing the game. I request that I be put back on active status. Give me a few days to remember how to fly in AH, setup the keybd, etc and I'll give you a shout, prolly the weekend.

It really is about the people, I've futzed around with IL2, and various other sims, but they don't have the interactive nature that AH has with yer buds.

My email is miles -at- constable.ca, same as it was.

Trukjr,

Im wondering what TIME EST your squad nights are?? Im down in the carribean - raised in USA - just retired early down here. played warbirds and Aces high, but took a year off to build a house. Didnt play any games at all, just got back on line, last month and took first sorties this week: How fast you forget:) Anyway - i have lots of time to spend with your Squad if the time is right.

Hi Drumss

I think Trukjr is outta town now, but I can give you some of the basic info about 880 Squadron. 880 is primarily an events oriented squadron, meaning that we fly wed night Snapshots at 10 pm eastern, and we also fly in Squad Ops which are flown on Friday nights at 11 pm eastern.

We do get together for squad nights in the AvA arena on Sunday nights at 8 pm eastern and occasionally fly there during the evenings throughout the week.

You can find additional information about us here
at the 880 web page.

We would be glad to have you fly a check ride with us sometime and see if our type of flying would be something you would enjoy.
