If my joystick aint broke, don't fix it.

Ok new patch. They did something to the keymapping. Never heard anyone complain, but who can stop progress?

Bottom line is, I can't do ANYTHING anymore via the stick, only look around. Just sat on the runway looking stupid. Could start my engine (via the keyboard) but even my throttle does not work anymore. Can't even fire my freakin' guns.

Bah.

It's getting late, I'm tired and just wanted to try the patch in a brief hop. I'm so totally not in the mood to spend a frustrating half hour trying to get everything to work again.

I had no problems remapping my keys, etc. What I seemed to have lost was that nice smooth tracking on the X and Y axis of my joystick (CH Fighter Pro). Anyone experiencing the same problem? Also anyone know how to correct this?

It sounds like you are experiencing what a majority of people did, be glad it's not worse. A few people had really screwed up problems. I think if you go in game & ask, someone will offer to take you to a back field & walk you through the re-mapping.

It should take no more than 5 - 10 minutes (or less) if the instructions are clear & you are a little familiar with the interface & not more than 15 minutes if they have to spell out each step.

Don't get discouraged, just go ask for someone to walk you through it. There are some really decent people who play this game, you'll just have to over-look the bungholyoes who will inevitably make childish remarks.

I had the exact same problem (and joystick). when I went into the "advanced" section of the controller setup I discovered that stick scaling was disabled for all the axes in the new version (i.e. the scale was 100 ... 100 ... 100 ...etc instead of 10 ... 20 ... 30 ... 40 ... etc).

I just manually enabled them and it was back to normal.

All I had to do was remap my alternate secondary weapon (you know, switching to bombs from cannons and back again).  Everything else transferred over ok.  I'm using USB CH Fighterstick and USB CH pedals.

I really dont get it.

People prefer to complain and whine for a considerate amount of time, but they dont even take about ten minutes to read the help file and the new stick config help Hammer posted?

I downloaded patch, imported my settings. Logged into TA to find my stick "not working". It took me ten minutes max to click on DEFAULT to assign aileron, elevator and rudder control as well as map ALL buttons on my X45 as they had been before.

Why is it so hard for people to adjust to MINOR changes?

I don't get it either.

I guess the easiest way to go about it is to go into like you are playing the game for the first time.

I think the whole import settings thing raised expectations.

After reading all the whining about the new version, I loaded it up the first time and was fully prepared to just set it up like it was the first time.  That's what I did and I'm right back where I was pre-upgrade.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried. :rofl

Yes, I am totally capable of figuring it out myself. But there is NOTHING more frustrating than having a brief relaxing moment you eagerly anticipated thwarted, especially when you are tired.

It's like having a Jehova's witness or your mother in law ring the doorbell on a Sunday morning when you were just starting to make love to your wife.

Not sure about most folks but the new setup is worlds better than the old one. New players will have an easy time with the tool tips and new JS mapping system.

Hats off to HTC for making the JS mapping work for the new player.
