The bad thing about the copperhead is it`s tendency to freeze in position when it senses something approaching. Makes the l`ill cammoed , crawling syringes too easy to step on. Most snakes will either try to get away, coil up or make some movement.

Goto Lowes/ Home depot - get a couple bottles of snake-away- or buy a bunch of mothballs / and crush them up. Spread out a  band about 2-3 feet wide using a hand spreader for fertilizer. Spread it around the perimiter of your property and near the base of the house. Also spread in or around any outdoor sheds- I guess throw some under the jaccuzzi as well.

Also - fire extinguishers are pretty usefull if you want to slow a snake down before handling...lol like a virual death freeze-ray to them. :)

I've thought about using Snake-away. I did a lot of research but never saw any proof that it works. Seems there is no really effective way of detering them other than Rikki-tikki-tavi.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Javalina's and some feral hogs just LOVE snakes. They make a tasty snack for them.
