Mapping Bombsight to USB Pro-throttle button
« on: June 06, 2006, 02:44:04 PM »
I'm familiar with the proper keystrokes to bring up the bombsight and calibrate before a drop.

The main problem remains and I suspect it is a BUG in AH2 2.08 and patch-1.

That is:
The IN-GAME button mapping procedure works well EXCEPT for bringing up the bombsight. I can map other functions to throttle button No. 6 BUT NOT THE BOMBSIGHT for some unknown reason.

The button position itself is alive and well. As proof, it works great on other tasks.

On a bomb run, I'm far too busy with target selection, line-up, speed sync, and calibration to fart around with more keystrokes: F6, plus U, plus Y, plus U, plus salvo selection, plus open doors, while fending off interceptors.

I posted this to the "Hardware & Software" forum too.
I appreciate your concern and suggestions, Mates.

I have no problem mapping that function to a button.  Is it just that particular button that you have a problem with?  Have you tried mapping it to any other buttons?

Thanks Pyro.....
Which "Bombsight" function did you use ?

I've tried mapping the following functions to several different CH ProThrottle button "POSITIONS":
1)   Bombsight Mark Point
2)   Bombsight Calibration Mode

None worked.  Only keypress F6 will pull up the Bombsight.

When assigning any other function (except Bombsight) to No.6 (or any other button position) they work fine.  But not either "Bombsight" function.

AH mapping accepts the assignment but is dead in flight.

Is there a 3rd or 4th "Bombsight" selection that I have not found yet ?

BTW, Button position No. 6 is the top position of a 4-way Hat button identified by Aces High mapping as No. 6.
However it is advertized by CH as Hat-4 "Top" position.  This is prolly not relevant anyway.

Thanks for your concern.

I just tried it with the other two functions and they worked for me as well.  This may be a dumb question, but you are testing the button when you are in the correct position/mode?  I.E., you need to be in the bombardier position to enter calibration mode, you need to be in calibration mode to do your mark.

The problem is that I must use F6 keystroke to get into the Bombardier position.
My goal is to map button 'position' No.6 to do that instead of a keypress.

I always use keypresses U and Y to calibrate two or three times inbound to target to offset for any speed changes from going level or bay doors drag.

I'm still puzzled as to the meaning (or function) of:
Bombsight Mark Point.
Is this tied to either the U key or the Y key ??

Have we reverted to the old calibration where we must hold the cross hairs on a fixed ground point during the Y keypress ?

Last night I bombed hangars using U and Y only and hit them dead-nuts from 12k.

Thank you, Pyro
