Info on current b17 skin
« on: June 07, 2006, 10:02:31 PM »
I was just curious on where I can find more information on the default skin used by the B17.

Like, what squadron used it.  Why they chose the symbols or colors.  When it was used.

At least a link or two about the history of this skin.

If anyone can help, it'll be very helpful.

Bit O Lace is fairly famous, as far as paint schemes go. It was a B17G from 447th Bombardment Group, 8th Air Foce, based at Rattlesden (UK) in early 1945, according to one of my books.

Thanks fellas, I just needed a starting point in my research.

What I am now focusing on is the combat life of this plane.

Go here:

http://www.447bg.com/

Great site on the 447th.  I have both the wartime published history and a more recent history of the 447th BG as I researched a crew that went down from the 447th.

So I'm kinda partial to the 447th.
