Soccer would be more interesting if the players carried bats and could take a whack at the ball.  :D

If we can't beat you in soccer, we will bomb you into submission.  It's in our nature.  :rofl

Hang,

USA always had a thing for their national events bearing the word "World", like the "World Series". It makes Americans forget that the "World" extends past USA's borders, and that there's a life out there other than a bunch of unshaved dudes runing around with C4 straped on their belly.

On this instance, you could notice life outside USA being a bunch of unshaved dudes runing around, but after a round ball.

I can translate this into terms that most of the readers of the O'Club will better understand:

The World Cup is like the big Quiddich match in the most recent Harry Potter movie, except with fewer flying broomsticks.

Hehe, Rip's still sore about his team losing in the Super Bowl.

Anyway, the world cup is fun to watch sometimes, especially when there's nothing else on.  However, I haven't seen a single game yet.  My cable lineup just isn't showing any soccer games, even on the spanish channel.

Lovely weather lately in Munich eh?  Luckily it's been sunny since Thursday! :)

The Paraguay team are staying 1.5 miles from where I live and I cycle by their training ground every day.  Shouted a few chants so far but at least can continue now England beat Paraguay :)

Been a really good atmosphere today, lots and supporters of different nationalities and even saw several USA shirts and a couple of US flags.  So there must be a few aware of Team USA ;)

where i grew up it was allways called "Fussball" because it is played with the Fuss (feet).
And this is the official Name:
FIFA Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft Deutschland 2006™
The statement below is true.

The US team is, at last, viewed as a top side.  Gone are the years of laughing at the Yanks for not knowing what on earth the offside rule is, etc.  Without checking, I think the USA is currently ranked 5th in the world and is expected to do pretty well this cup.

Of course we know what off side is.....it's when a lineman moves before the ball is snaped to the quarterback. What do you think is?

I saw the Argentina v Ivory Coast game, and I could have sworn  the Argie player who received the pass (Simbiola?) was offside.

In third grade we played it at recess. It was called kick-ball.

Then we graduated to dodgeball in the 4th grade.
