Pat Buchanon in the US got nailed to the cross with this type of media reporting. People still think he's KKK down there.

What did the complete article say though ?
Just curious..it could be missing the whole story too.

Televsion News is the worst for that.
Try to tell a story in 3 min 2 secs that really tells the story.
The problem is the format. Not the intent.
In addition, many people don't wanna learn the whole story. THAT would take too much thinking and time.

I do agree to a point though.
15 Years working in television in different areas has turned me OFF T.V. in a BIG way.

Well, I doubt it will be even a close election, not like the US which appears to be a 2 horse race.  The whole reason to call it this early is because the Liberals are going to take it in a cakewalk and they know it.  Canadian Alliance probably won't have a chance.

Short of a promise by one of the parties other than the liberals to repeal taxes forever, or something else utterly stupid, it's already over.

Sad but I fear true.  Maybe whoever loses in the US wants to come up and run here    Sorta like being the bridesmaid but never the bride..

ha ha ha

I wouldn't mind voting Liberal so much if Chretien wasn't the leader of the party.  He is embarassing.

Snoopi, my eg was fictitious to make the point. I do agree with you that it is format not intent. Unfortunately it seems that the majority of people are only interested in the headline or sound bite.

A good point it was too !

Part of broadcast is knowing that many people have short attention spans and love things that GRAB their attention.
That's why you hardly hear of "INTERFOR is logging beside Pacific Rim National Park and damaging salmon streams which is against the law." (A true headline)
It gets more viewers if you have; "This is our Channel 10 Exclusive footage of the carnage from the drive by shooting as it happened."

Chretien was great when he shoved that guy a couple of years ago.
He's not too bad with a Inukshuk statue against intruders either !

Otherwise.....

Chretien is such a tough guy....    Nothing like shoving a protestor and then having the cops pull out the pepper spray.

Problem is all the other people running are total idiots... it's like a dog race to see who gets to the end first... backwards.

What we need is to have Mr T run against these goofs... "get outta my way, fool"..

Someone once said about him that he's the only Canadian that speaks two second languages.

I assure you, he sounds like a moron in French too.

An interesting bit about BQ's Duceppe: 3 years ago during the previous elections he visited some factory (food? hitech stuff? can't remember) that required him to wear some kind of hair net (to avoid loosing hair). He's not through paying for that mistake yet. In newspaper political cartoons he's still portrayed with that hair net and a hilarious moronic look.

Mr. T....  LOL ! I like it !

I'm still amazed at the controversy over that incident.
If that had been the U.S. President he would have been face down in handcuffs (or shot dead) WAY before he got that close to him.

Then that other idiot just wanders into their bedroom.

The RCMP team that were his bodyguards needed some training. (either that or they were PC party members)
