I didnt even know they still used these things.  Awesome wingspan on that baby.  Local newscrew did an interview with the pilot and filmed him taking off, way cool.

Sorry for the cruddy pic quality.  Doesnt do her justice.

Nah, I was just ripping off SuperDud on a reply he did to one of my threads that I was trying to mock helldiver with.

At least as good as a Ta-152 eh?  :)

I like the description the pilot gave.

"We call it the dragon lady. It s got a bite, somedays she's good to you, some days she's not good to you. Not a sexy airplane but she gets the job done."

i remember reading that at mission altitudes the U-2s have to fly in a +/- 5kts IAS range, faster & there in the compression zone, lower they stall.
it doesnt take too much IAD at 65,000' to be near supersonic:lol :lol :lol :cry

Yeah, they say the U2 is the most difficult plane in the world to fly.  I'd sure as heck like a ride in one though.  Can you imagine flying at 70,000 feet?  The only people that go higher than them are astronauts.

Or maybe Ack Ack.  :)

Reminds me of the story of the private plane requesting to climb to a kinda low level, then the military jet asking to climb to some impressive height to dump on the private pilot...then the SR-71 calls to go through something like FL121... :D The tower replies that if they can climb that high, to go ahead. SR-71 replies that they aknoledge the right to descend through FL121... :rofl
