GeForce FX 5500 Video Card, PCI, 256MB DDR

Does anyone have experience with this card?  My cpu is a 2.00ghz, with 768RAM, but I will be upgrading to a gig + a 256 stick...Unfortunately I am limited to only PCI slots on my computer....I am currently running a GeForce FX 5200 PCI 128mb DDR card... My current set up is decent...Im able to hold frames in the 30's, and only very minor lag in gv's and low level flight...as minor as it is im looking to upgrade to a 256 card....

so does anyone have any experience with this specific card, or can you please recommend what you think would be a good buy?

thanks

FX are horribly stripped down cards. I bought a PCI FX4600 64MB and benchmarked it vs my old AGP Ge256 32MB. The 32MB card, 4 generations older, performed EVERY test better except the 64MB tests (which it was exempt from).

Part of that is the PCI interface. A lot of it is the FX prefix. If you have to go PCI don't go FX (well, if you can find anything else, I mean -- if you honestly can't find anything better go with it)

I too am regulated to the standard PCI slot.  You should notice a difference between the two- I have been using the PCI 5500 for about four months now, although it lost some framerates with the new patch.   I replaced an ATI 9250 with the 5500 and went from 5-25 to 45-60 Fps.

5200 Core Clock: 250 Mhz
Memory Clock: 285 Mhz / 400 Mhz
   RAMDAC: Dual 350 Mhz

5500 Core Clock: 270 Mhz
Memory Clock: 333 Mhz / 400 Mhz
        RAMDAC: Dual 400 Mhz

Have mine overclocked to 277/417 (not much, but it's something)

There is also a GeForce 6200 OC in the standard PCI, but at $149 compared to a 5500 at $69 its alot more bucks.

Our biggest problem is the PCI bus- (133MBps) at 33MHz / 32bit transfer :(
