Ahhh.. Finally got my scanner working...
« on: June 16, 2006, 01:10:01 PM »
I finally got my scanner working. It's an old old unit. The company went out of business after I bought it. It works, though! It just won't work in XP. 98 only. I finally found it, dug it out, dusted it off, and hooked it up to the Win98 print station downstairs. The printstation is for an OfficeJet fax/printer combo that only works in 98, as well.

I've pulled 4 scans from a book and I'll be posting them in this thread shortly (1 at a time) for skins that should be made -- by somebody, anybody, I'm just putting them out there as general requests!

First up: We have training skins on typhies, on several japanese aircraft, so why not for the C47?

This P-38F (requested for the -G model in AH) has an atypical camo pattern and lovely Portuguese markings. It would make an excellent addition to AH's skins for the 38G.

I'd hit it! :aok

This P47D (for the D40 in AH) caught my eye because of the lightning on the tail. It reminded me of the Ki84 and Ki61 skins with bright tails and lightning flashes. The splash of color on the nose doesn't hurt, either!

And this one... I wasn't going to scan it at first, but it caught my eye like some French skins do -- with colorful bands. The nose "swoosh" was pretty good, but couple it with tri-color bands in 2 different directions, and you have something that might appeal to some MAers.

Don't think it ever saw combat however.  It was an interned USAAF bird that dropped in by accident when they were moving from England to North Africa.

That's the problem.   Best you could probably do is some of the French Recce P38s or the few Aussie Recce birds.  Of course we don't have a recce 38 in AH.

Obviously there is the one, well documented captured P38G that was flown by the Italians and had at least 1 confirmed kill, but if you do that, then what about all the captured stuff flown by both sides for whatever reason.

And of course what about all the Spanish 109s or the Swiss birds that were 'neutral'  The color on some of those Swiss birds would really stand out.

Well swiss 109s were bought properly by the swiss, so they're legit. We had them before the 109s got redone. Spanish 109s we could have too.

What we cannot have are captured planes (no swiss B17s, portuquese p38s :cry ) or unarmed recon (F5's).

Pity on the latter, as the only skin ideas I can find for French or Chinese, or other foreign P38s are for photo recon planes. Odd, that.
