Question for HiTech....
« on: June 17, 2006, 03:11:22 PM »
....or whoever can answer with knowledge.

Why do the tank rounds not fire true aim?

Let me elaborate; I have noticed on the .target command that the rounds do not impact at dead center & if you line up the ranging reticle to impact dead on at 400 yards, then the point of impact is thrown off at longer ranges.

Is there something in the code that is affecting the rounds flight? Immitating wind, the coriolis effect or the spin imparted to the round from the rifling etc?

slope and gun angle effect it, and also, the gun is to the right of the sight IIRC, so it's off to the side by a bit...

So if the sight is to the left, at what range does the sight & the point of impact converge?

that i dont know...

im not even sure that they do converge, i guess the offset isn't enough to care about.

They do not converge. Hence at all ranges the sight and impact point have the same offset.

Thanks, so it's just the sight off-set I'm seeing.
