Whenever the person in command of a CV is present on any of the ships in a carrier group, give him control of the flight deck.

Maybe a check box that turns on a red light when he would really prefer that no planes take off from the CV. Ideally shutting down flight would happen too, which I know isn't feasable but at least there would be a visual notice to players that wish to take off from the carrier.

This would help with sneak attacks at bases where you don't want the presence of the CV made known until the last possible moment.

This wonīt help much, Iīm afraid... People still will takeoff, wether thereīs a funny light on or not. Either they are not aware (noobs) or they donīt give a xxxx, for itīs "their 15$ and nobody has to tell them when to fly"

Hi NHawk,

I like the idea in principle.

But as some of the others above pointed out, there are a few issues that have to be taken care of for a feature like that to work. Here are a few ideas:

1) CVs would continue to sail as they normally do, available to anyone, unless they are "reserved" in the "mission planner" for a CV Mission

2) A CV Mission would require a minimum of say 10-15 players, but others can join after a mission starts

3) Reserving a CV for a mission would cost boo-coo perkpoints contributed by all participants in the mission (to eliminate suicide CV missions)

4) A successful  conclusion of a CV mission requires that the CV return to port, maybe some place within 2 K of the port

5) A CV Mission team-member will not get any share of the perk points earned unless they are still in the mission when the CV returns to port

6) If the CV is sunk during the CV mission -- the team-members lose the perkpoints they contributed for the mission, but that is offset by points earned from any successful operations prior to sinking (aircraft shot down, ships sunk, bases captured by the CV mission team count toward the mission success)

7) Sinking an enemy CV, or taking a base would earn enough perkpoints for the team to "break even" if their CV is sunk

Just some ideas to consider.

In addition to the above thoughts, there could be a limit as to the number of simultaneous CV Missions per side. On a map that has few CVs per side there could be a "1 CV Mission" limit at any time. That way there would be "normal" CVs availiable for those who what to fly off of them but not in a mission. For maps that have a higher number of CVs per side, there could be a 2 or 3 CV mission limit.

Hi Geeb,

People that want to run a CV op may be willing for a long mission. For example a squad with a naval aviation orientation might be willing to run a lengthy CV mission. In any case, CVs do get sunk, and that ends missions. And if not sunk then, there are battles in the attempt to sink it, and that is the action that many people are looking for. CV groups have fighers, bombers, cannon bombardment, LVTs and PT boats, ie lots of things to do if you want.

Anyway, NHawk's idea was for some kind of control over the operation of the CV, which cannot happen as they presently operate. CV Missions would allow more control, but would require more committment to keep from getting sunk and losing a lot of perks. Other than that, I personally don't mind if the CV's continue to operate as they do now. But I do think the idea is good, as long as there is some kind of limitation to it.

Ok I see your point mabe. Your talking about special cv groups? Mabe make it fast carriers & escorts, no cruisers?
