The undercarriage was too weak on those things, and it was incapable of carrying 1000lb bombs.  It would be a hanger queen in the MA.

His whole problem was he tried to land with S-foils open. The main landing gear are in the lower engine nacelles, so with the wings in attack configuration the skids were angled too far inwards.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

My book says the F5FX XStar would have been one of the best carrier fighters during ww2, but it suffered some lacked in #s because some Rebal country was fighting another war with the Empire, and they would only lend a few to us. It was also to fast for any plane of its time and getting a shot was hard. Though the Best F5FX XStar fighter pilot was Luke Skywagon with 10 confirmed vulches. The F5FX also didn't have a hook and made landing on CV very hard, and many pilots who flew them either died or got injured. Only 48 were in service. With 4 30mm cannons made it the most heavly armed allied fighter.  Visablity was bad to. I say bring it to AH. :aok

Someone posted that one a couple months back on one of the other boards.
