Away from AH for a while.
« on: June 17, 2006, 12:14:05 PM »
Hello fellow AHers, some of you may recognize my name but most probably won't. Just a note I'm going to be away from this game for a while. Have had crash issues for about a year now related to the NVIDIA driver and FX5700 card. Changing/reinstalling drivers won't fix it, defragging hard drive won't fix it, no gfx settings ingame will solve it either. Running a custom resulotion of 1920x1200 but that really shouldn't matter at all. AH run just fine until system lock up and it can occur after 5, 20, 45 or 140 minutes, totally random it seems and it only happen in AH in no other program or game does this occur.

Planning to do a hardware upgrade (64 bit, PCI-E) sometime around christmas but it might be delayed. So I figure I'm gonna put my 2 accts on hold for now since the game is not enjoyable for me. I intend to come back but when I don't know.

JG54 and
Uknighted squad, my old buddies navajo24, BBQBOB and the gang

Wish you all many kills and happy landings!

There's no way to unsubscribe it seems, and I certainly don't want to delete my accounts. How do you unsubscribe without acct deletion, anyone?

Call them and ask them to suspend your account, and explain why.

Just a thought on the random lockups -
Go into your BIOS and change the PCI latency timer to 256, it works for the 7800GS but you never know, maybe it will work for your card also.

Tried it, no result. Was on for 3-4 minutes before it locked up. Nothing short of replacing the hardware seem to fix this.

Are you sure you have your directX sound settings set to 3/4 speed? The big lock up hits I used to get was a direct result of that.  A simple (old) path in your computer to get there is program/run and in the new window just type in dxdiag and hit enter. The new window contains all your computer info related to directX. Click on the sound tab and look near the bottom of the window for the acceleration slider. If it's set to full it needs to be moved left to 3/4 speed.

You didnt mention posting on the tech help forum either. These kinds of proplems are discussed daily with fixes happening every day.

Hope this helps.

Tried it already and it doesn't work for me. I was trying to fix this about a year ago and talked to tech support, apparently it's a unique issue with the 5700 card. Perhaps that's why they stopped producing it. Nothing I can do short of buying a new card really.

Hi NIck.

The only way to unsubscribe is to delete the account. You will have to open
