Ummmm........

I woke up with a P38 diving on my six. This happened when I couldn't otherwise shake him, and tried to force an overshoot. Definitely not a headon.

I'm not complaining, and I understand roughly why it is the way it is. However in the (many) recent threads on the issue no one said anything about only recording it if both see it so I thought I'd toss it in there. :p

Incidentally, I been rear-ended and had a collision recorded on both occurances, too.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I'm not complaining about the collision model, he asked for the screenshot and I posted it.

HT's favorite description of collisions is that every player is towing a drone through the air. It's behind them on (hypothetically) a 50-foot cable. Now you can't see any other player, you can just see their drone. If you hit that drone, you take damage. If you fly through where the player is, their drone is not in the same space, and you don't hit. If they fly through your drone, they take damage. Now the fact that you're both trailing drones means that for BOTH of you to hit each others' drone, you have to be either directly head-on (not uncommon in AH) or less likely you have to be in some kind of tail chase, something where the paths of the drones are the same and one is closing on the other.

Off-angle double collisions are highly unlikely, because either one of you could hit the drone, but it's not likely you both will (you can't both be behind each other at the same time, see what I mean?)

HT said he's tried this in another game. It was a nightmare.

Because the double collision is so rare compared to our current system (see Krusty's posts above), a double collision or nothing system would dramatically reduce the penalty for flying through the opponent. That means real ACM.. based on angles and getting a good solution, would be a DISADVANTAGE since the dweeb gains gun time by aiming right at you and letting guns rip durting the time that you're angling for a clean shot.

I like this AH much better than that one would be.

Same here Simaril. I think Hitech has done a great job on our current collision model. Even if I do die from it alot.
