Yeah, i know about evil con missions.  If you read my post it is easy to see I allude to the other goofy crap that has been put into the air for such tomfoolery.

And yes, i DO "get it".   A bunch of WWII aviation buffs who spend hours playing a WWII aviation game get together once a year to fly...non-WWII planes or worse for their grand mission.

WOO HOO!!!!

Kind of funny the mission you talk about the most each year is not even flown with WWII planes now isn't it?

But, you're right...it's *me* who doesn't "get it".

Sheesh :D

Few things...

First of all, don't mind bkbandit.  He's from NYC.  We have to at least give him credit for being borderline literate (can you tell I'm from CT? :D )

Second, to those complaining that the con was small...  YOU try organizing anything of any size.  Sport tournament, fundraising dinner, party at a rented out club, AH2 convention, you name it, it's a pain in the butt, and the organizers deserve a little more credit and less cuts.

Third, it's one night a year for about four hours that you're "inconvenienced."  As I've said in other threads, with any girl, you're looking at at least one week a month of the same.  I'd think anyone who's ever had a date could deal with the con night aggravation by now.

Fourth, the con sounds like a blast...  I will definately have to get there one year.  I'd say the highlight of my flight sim "career" was meeting Del, Hoarach, Tower, Cav58 (briefly), and others at Corsairs Over CT last year...  A good time and very nice to finally put at least a few faces to some names.  Heck, it was fun and I even had to drive home after so I couldn't get sloshed.  I can only imagine what meeting 70ish of you guys and getting completely hammered would be like :)

Man there is a lot of WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA:cry :cry :cry  in here.

For the RV-8...look it up on the inernet. It's a very small sport plane. HiTech owns one, and thats what we flew. HIS PLANE!!! Same paint job, the cockpit was modeled off of his plane. It was armed with 2 20mm Vulcan Cannons with 3000 rds of ammo, good for about 30-40 seconds of firing time. The engine was rated at 200HP and doubled with WEP to 400HP. Top speed was around 200MPH and it would turn inside of a A6M no problem.

The CON was a blast!!!! Well worth the $700 I spent to make the 2 day drive with a fellow squadie out and back and spend 4 days in Dallas. For me this was my summer vacation and I loved every minute of it. Everyone I met at the CON and drank beer with and talked too.  You guys are great:aok  The CON is ALL about having a good time.

To the people crying about it, pony up the money for the next one and go see what it's all about. You wont be crying then unless it's due to laughter.

I will see everyone at the next CON.
