Discos and CTDs on 2.082
« on: June 20, 2006, 02:55:04 AM »
Since 2.07 was replaced by 2.08 I have experienced a large increase in discos.  I used to get an average of 1 per month but I'm over 10 so far this month alone.

Last night, in addition to 2 discos I experienced 2 CTDs which I have never seen before.  This is happening on a fresh full reinstall of AH on a hard drive newly formatted 2 weeks ago.

While in a field gun on a field where nothing was happening my screen went black and a message came up saying "AH has caused a serious error in Windows and needs to close".  Mouse did not work when this black screen was up so I hit Alt F4 to get back to the desktop.

I deleted my whole cache folder (512) and rebooted the computer and started AH.  The cache regenerated and I got back into the game ok but an hour later while flying in a clear area the same black screen and message came up.  This time I hit Alt Tab instead of Alt F4 and a second little window came up asking me which of the 2 running copies of AH I wanted to leave.

Alt F4 brought me back to the desktop with no copies of AH minimized.

I'm open for constructive suggestions and will provide any additional info that I can.

Me too. I've added my comments to a couple of threads involving this. It started as soon as 2.08 was released. That day alone I got probably a dozen disco's, whereas in the couple of months I'd been flying prior to 2.08 I got disco'd maybe three times total. Most times I am in relatively clear air.

I had this problem for a while also ,for me it seems whenever i get to many patches on the game things go all to hell. I have to delete AH2 completely and  do a fresh install and everything is stable again:(

I wonder...I heard once that if you get too many films in your film folder that AH will start to run slowly...it might be the same for the autoupdater files. All the autoupdater does is download the same file you can get manually from the HTC site, dump it in the AHII folder, and run it. All of the .exe's are left in there, too. Try moving your films if you have a bunch and deleting all the patch files.

The patch files have the same logo as aceshigh.exe, but have different names.
