Statement and Question
« on: June 24, 2006, 10:30:03 AM »
First off, I want to say that last nites FSO was awsome... it seemed that there were alot of good fights and at a very timely manner.... excellent job to both sides for that one :aok

Now for the question.. I would like the language moderator to contact me thru email as I dont really want to make this a public issue, but I do have a few questions concerning an event that took place with a member of my squad.... please email me at wv_medicman@yahoo.com....

Again, last nites event was very well done.. and I everyone that particpated.

I don't know if this will help as I'm not sure what happened but this may help.

The language (bad word filter) for text is a setting that the CM's need to use for obvious reasons.  Even if something is typed between close squadies who would never take it the wrong way key words will trip a squelch situation.  If this has nothing to do with what happened just ignore my message.

ok... I will buy that.... but who or what determines the severity and what happened to the warnings?  My squadie was muted for an hour with absolutely no warning for saying prettythang..... im sorry but that is total BS.  I have squadies that come to FSO to get away from the MA junk, just to come to the SEA and get muted with no warning for saying something that was on our squad channel....... if it were one of the major words and was on country, thats great... do what you have to do.... but should it not be up to the CO to control the language on SQUAD channel???  I usually just let things go, but things are getting way out of hand lately, and its getting really old.. I have worked hard to get my squad numbers up, and really push to get people in the SEA.... but if this kind of stuff is goin to continue as is, I stand to lose about half of my squad... there has to be some type of compromise in here somewhere.... I was hoping to keep this low key, but cant get a simple email from the mods.... so its goin public....... I am just really aggrevated that things are going in the direction that they seem to be goin... hopefully someone from the CM team can look into the settings or something... or at least put the warnings back in.... if not.... guess we will just have to see how many people I can keep ... :furious

I absolutly understand where you are coming from.  We had it happen Friday night also.  One of the Mare's was going to give me some ribbin and I would not have cared and might hae fired a few shots back all in fun.

Honestly I do not know what the criteria for a squelch is but if there is any compromise I belive it would effect the text buffer as a whole.  This would open up and frankly invite insaults on channel 200 or IM's that would not be as good natured as what happend to us.  There are a bunch of people that just do not care for that kind of thing.  I personaly handle my verbal judo via VOX :)  We definetly don't want to loose anyone over this but due to some player's it has to be.  I hope your guy's can understand that it's not personal.

I am not sure if they are goin to take it personal or not.... I am trying really hard to keep things calm.... I do however think that they need to put the warning back in instead of just instant mute... it really put a damper on things as this happened right before the fight, and he could not tell us where he was.... The best compromise I can see is just put the warning back in .... thats all I ask...

There are no moderators in the SEA; they are in the MA only. The CMs are in control of the SEA. We use "Bad Word Filter Count" for text settings only. The only channel it will not affect is "Squad" red channel.
CMs have the authority to maintain control of the arena by ejecting or muting disruptive players. This is used under very strict guidelines and when used must be posted in the CM forum for review and critique by all the CMs.
For every ones information we do not monitor squad channels, including numerical, nor do the MA moderators, they are private.

I was hoping that was the case.. but you can also understand my confusion when my squadie was muted for an hour for either saying or typing prettythang on squad channel.... but like I just posted, I really do appreciate you guys looking into this and addressing the issue....

If I type a bad word, aces high will automatically not send the text and it will give me a warning.

Why can't we just keep getting warnings?  It's not like the bad word will be sent.

Anyone agree?

At least reduce he 60min to 10min.  And have at least 1 warning.

What the member of your squad got caught by the bad word filters. Well the CMs definitely have to look into that. I am sure when I took a leve of absence from the corp that I left the "target mystic and only mystic"  option on in the arena settings.

I think it is right next to the debit HiTechs account and send a case of scotch to whoever shoots down Daddog option in the arena settings. ;)

Enough funnng though. I am sure the CMs will hammer out something acceptable. I am not sure if there is any control over what is considered a bad word but I think there is control over the serverity of the muting and such.
