20k Airfield Takeoff

When starting on a 20k airfield in the TA there is minimal power until you get rolling about 2 mph. You can toggle Wep to get going or just wait until you build your speed up to 2.

Not a bug.

Few planes will get off the ground at 20k. That's why nobody in their right mind places airfields that high without a steep dropoff at the end of the runway.
Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

If it's not a bug why do you jump from 0 to full manifold pressure at 2 mph? Is that normal aircraft performance at 20K? I would expect a more linear progression.

well the air is far thinner up there, and you need air coming through the intake for the fuel to burn properly. i guess it's that bad up there that you need some air flowing into the intake for the engine to actually start up properly ;)

I see your point Biggles. When the engine starts up normally but runs at minimal manifold pressure, rolling forward at 2 MPH is a critical difference in airflow from sitting still with the propeller spinning and it accounts for the immediate progression to full power.:D

I did try this today and it definately reacts weird @20k.
Then again my Me163 would nose over and crash before wheels cleared the ground on auto-takeoff @20k also.

That's a negative. All are sea level takeoffs although I can't say I ever used A3.
A1 and A2 are the usual fields we use. This referring to the new koth06 map.

Hmm, without autotakeoff, either I didn't try it or I forgot the result.
My $$$ on the second choice.
