I know this would never happen, but it seems like it could be some fun for a bit.  One weekend a month (or any other length of time, just as long as it isn't all the time), have the MA or some other arena set up with some of the more exotic planes (my preference would be for ones that actually flew in some way, as opposed to the "napkin" planes).

Planes such as the Do 335, He 162, F7F, F8F, F2G, P-80, Kikka, A7M, etc.  I know that the time needed for this would be better spent on updating the planes we have now, completing Combat Tour, adding more planes to the set to flesh it out even more.  However, this is a forum for a wishlist and this seems like it could be fun.

I know this will pretty much never happen here, but I still think it would be cool.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

with air to air missles, radar fused AA shells, TV guided drones & fire & forget bombs all having been combat weapons well before the end of the war, what would have air combat been like in '46?
I'd bet gunfighters would have been on their way out...

P-47s were used in Korea. A lot of WWII aircraft kept serving into the later wars.
A Rook who first flew 09/26/03 at the age of 13, has been a GL in 10+ Scenarios, and was two-time Points and First Annual 68KO Cup winner of the AH Extreme Air Racing League.

a lot of the high tech uber weapon research seems to have slowed down once the war was done.
i'd wager some stuff that didn't come into use until after the korean war would have been invented & operational by 1946 if WWII was still hotly contested

Yeah look at Vietnam...F4 Phantom was first American jet fighter built and put in service WITHOUT a internal gun. In combat the fighting got so close that the pilots started screaming for a gun, hence the F4-E model was brought into service to remedy that situation. No US fighter has been built since without an internal gun, because the gunfight will always be there.

don't spill your Virginia Gentleman & Norther Neck Gingerale highball, but I think the history of weapons technology would have developed differently if WW2 has still been a hot confilct in question in 1946.
