Thanks guys.  :)

BTW, I made one small change.
I thickened the black border a bit
to represent a merrowed edge on the patch.

Not sure how detailed the red/white/tokyo/ocean backdrop will be though, the patches are pretty small.

Judging from the examples posted
above the details are all within the
grasp of an embroidered patch.

The only detail that will need to be
softened is the outline of the Japanese
islands which I think is too intricate.

Other than that, I think it is doable
but I'll leave that to Brooke to
determine.  The last time I had a custom
patch done it was only 3 colors so my
experience with this stuff is severely
limited.

BTW, I'll be ordering 3 of these.  :D

Or just keep for mementos

Delta, I'd like to make a suggestion for detail's sake. Please remove the  pitots on the wings of the fighters, and the masts on the CV. I don't think they'll come out too well, due to the stitching. Also the rudder on the Ki61 has the same problem -- just make the black go all the way across from elevator to elevator, no need to make it dip inwards by the rudder.

You're probably right on the homeland outline. Globularize it. Hand-draw it in the rough outline of just the major islands (forget all the small dots)

Hello, Stockli.  Some of us get together and have patches made for each scenario then either sell them to the players at cost or take donations to help defray the cost and give them out.  (Not sure yet which way we'll go for this scenario, but we will have patches.)

Some examples of patches (scans of the actual patches) from the previous four scenarios (Rangoon, Coral Sea, Malta, and Stalin's Fourth) are shown above in one of my earlier posts.

96Delta, it is a truly beautiful patch design!

You do not have to change the outline of Japan -- the patch-company artist will render that in the resolution they have available (such as for the island of Malta in the Fire Over Malta patch above).

Likewise, there are some fine details to the outline of the carrier that might not come through, but you should leave it and let the patch company render it in however much detail they can (like the carrier in the Coral Sea patch above).

Here are some changes, though, that I suggest with reasons for the request:

Instead of "ACES HIGH II", having "ACES HIGH" with a superscript "TM" as in "ACES HIGHTM SCENARIO" but with "TM" as superscript (see final Stalin's Fourth patch below).

Instead of "July-August 2006", just "July 2006", as they might need a slightly larger font, and with just "July", it gives them a little room.

A slightly bigger US roudel on the wing of the Corsair, as the one given will be a bit small to render in thread well.  (See roundels in the Stalin's Fourth patch below to see how they come out when they are small.)

I'd eliminate the pitot tubes on the planes and the four vertical radio masts on the carrier, as they'll be too thin to render well.

The white outlines around the planes and carrier may or may not come out looking how you'd like them.  If you have them in, the white thread around will have a stitched look like the middle flag in the Coral Sea patch and like around the black planes in the first Stalin's patch below.  If that's OK, keep it.  If not, then you'll need to get rid of the white outlines -- it's up to you based on what you think of the white thread stitching outline.

(By the way, for Stalin's Fourth folks, the above is not the patch final.  Here is the patch final: )

Roscoroo hooked me up with a Malta patch. I think he still has some.

Okay,  I incorporated the suggested changes
into a revised design.

With respect to the white outline on the aircraft
silhouettes, I think they are best left on even
if the stitching will be visible.  Actually, I think
the stitching may look pretty good.  :)

Here's the new version:
