Need help with RPS: Commonwealth vs Japan
« on: July 13, 2006, 06:57:11 PM »
Hey guys,

Building upon the last PTO that had great reviews of Commonwealth vs Japan, I'd like a suggestion on a RPS for the PTO against the IJN/IJA.

I would start with 1939 and the invasion of Hong Kong/Singapore, and then the push back on the south-western front (CBI?).

I would ask that we remain with the aircraft for each side, but when we do this, just limit the aircraft #'s on each side (i.e. if only 3 IJA fighters are available, we use only 3 Commonwealth fighters).

Thoughts? Ideas?

Start with 1941-42.  :D

Are you asking if we want a more stringent / date related RPS vs. a repeat of the last one (Early, Mid, Late war)?  Personally I thought the last Pacific set worked rather well.

I wouldn't mind seeing the blue planes again, though.

For the future, how about a short 1 week of Manchuria August '45-- could use the Rhine map, Russian LA 7's / Yaks vs IJA N1ks and KI84s.   Just a thought.

I'd take a Ki-84 over the La-7 any day.  hotrod or not.

Still haven't flown the la7, but Ki-84 certainly beats the others.

84 would own the fights. Problem is there wouldn't be many fights, just LA7s runnin.

La7 is a damn fine dogfighter. Not as a good as the Yak 9U or the Ki-84 but not far behind. Trouble is too many use its speed to avoid dogfighting at all costs and only take the 400 mph weak ho shot before running a sector. Gives the plane a bad rep. Yak vs Frank will be the fight though.:aok

Have to tell ya, the fights were a blast tonight IMO.  The only running the LA -7s were doing was to try to catch up to and shoot down the Japanese planes that were trying to RTB.

Japanese "paper planes" seemed to be doing quite well against those Ruskie hotrods. . .

Thanks for implementing my suggestion.  Now if I can only avoid the wife ack long enough to REALLY enjoy it . . . :aok

the fights have actually been quite good.  I have not left the La7 yet.  the Ki84 in the hands of a good player does rule.  I have been shot down lots turning the La7 usually against multiple opponents in Ki84s and N1Ks.  that is a tough combination but fun because it keeps me off balance and makes me play to the very limits of my abilities.  I have to admit after my initial apprehension regarding the setup it works splendidly.

a sharp salute to target for the idea and to fork for it's implemntation. see you guys on soon.
