After youre done avoid any and all dive/climb or hard manuver. get yourself into nose gunner position and use RUDDER to steer your buff formation with slight corrections on lineup. Calibrate when close to drop and DONT MANEUVER at all after calibrating (if you have to adjust flight path, recalibrate!).

I do all of that. Still the speed never evens out. It either drops until stalling, or never stops accelerating! Even though throttle is at 75-80% it still either stalls or keeps going up. :cry :furious :cry :furious :cry

Are you flying level with *autopilot*?

Is your throttle calibrated?

Before I hop in a buff and try this...

Can you explain the whole E6B thing?

What's that about?

I understand that I'll see my airspeed, but how do I access this
feature?

You'll find the E6B on your clipboard. It will show you the speeds (numerical), fuel burn rate, range and consumption as well as the different engine settings (RPM/MP).

Historically it was a chart that pilots used to calculate their fuel range. A short while ago someone posted a good lot of info on it, but unfortunatly i cant find that post anymore.

Edit: Maybe this  answers your question also :).

Bombing is easy.

1. Launch from at least 2 sectors back from target. Use one sector for climb out, or use half your distance to target for climb out. Run full throttle on auto climb, remembering to raise flaps after takeoff.

2. Level bomber halfway to target... one sector out. Let bomber build speed on level flight path, now is a good time to line up on target making course corrections slow and easy.

3. Go to bomb site and calibrate your site.
- F6 to enter bombsight
- u to enter calibration mode
- hold y for as long as possible, good: 5 secs, 10 are better
- U to exit calibration mode

4. check "E6B"  to see if your speeds match, full speed drops are just as accurate as slow speed, the important thing is to match your speed to the "calibrated" speed.

5. drop bombs when the cross hair is ove the target.

Got it...

Up from two sectors out.

Climb at WOT w/ flaps up.

Level out 1 sector away.

Jump to bomb bay to calibrate.

Get pinged by strafing aircraft.

Jump to top turret and take pot shot.

Get zapped by his buddy in another aircraft.

Panic because bomb run is close.

Jump to bombsight.

Stress while trying to remember which freakin' letters do what.

Jump back to turret while getting totally creamed by the guy AND
his buddy in the small yet mighty airplanes.

Make one final effort to fumble around in the bomb bay while cursing
the fellow that invented online bomber... stuff.

Go down in flames as the two planes fly into the sunset.

Always exit calibration mode before dropping.  I forget this every now and again and the bombs wind up in the next county.

Practice a few times offlinr or online in the DA (theres high fields with lower targets in the SE of map).

Bombing practice Map  - by Morpheus.

Just download this map and copy it into your HTC/Aces High II/ahiiterr folder - on startup before going offline, "Choose Terrain" Schatzi.

You seem to have a handle on it... :aok

I tend to launch a lot further from the target than 2 sectors, because lancs tend to require a lot of room to get alt. I like to bomb from 20K+ and I like to be at alttitude and speed way before I enter the enemy's sector. I'll usually launch from a base that's at a high alt.

Now, if it's b-24's or b-17's, I'll follow the instructions above for a bombing run. I'll use those for a fast, low level bombing run any day.

Also, When I go wings lvl and start getting my line up the way I want it, reduce your engine power to "Cruise" and open u're bay doors. Do all this about 25 K out, so that everything has time to "settle"

slow down in your bombers a little, I usually am at 35 on the manifold before I start calibrating in B17's.
