Back in the saddle again (plus piloting change)

I'm baaaaaaack!

Today I started my first day back on the job.  After an 8 month 'vacation', I'm back at the company I used to work for.  As a returning employee, I'll be accruing PTO at the rate I was when I left (maxed out) and I'll still be eligible for whatever the 10 year thingy is when I hit the '10 years of service' mark in the near future.

I've got a completely new job, one that involves travel around the country, and looks like I'll be working with some pretty cool people.

Anyhow, I wanted to check in with my good news.  I haven't said anything until now because I didn't want to jinx it, but this is a super great #1 thing.  Maybe NOW I'll start working on the plane again.  After all, they DO have a plotter at work that I can use to print out some helpful diagrams.....  hmmm....

I'm formally starting work on my instrument rating now.  Hey, anyone have an IFR DVD or video set that they want to sell?  I'd like to do the ground school at home, then hit the instructor with questions to fill in the 'blank stare' spots.

Oh, and last week, we sold the poor performer restaurant!  The new owners are taking it in a drastically different direction, I think they should be able to make money with it.  No more cash hemorrhage!

We lost a fantastic amount of money on it over the last year, something near $75,000-90,000, hope there's some way to see tax relief on it.

The amount we got is enough to 90% pay off our credit cards, so that plus the new job are taking some of the sting out of the med bills for our young daredevil and I think I'll be able to pay it off soon after all.

Congrats on the good news. You should be able to write off most if not all of your business losses.

Why did you have to leave your old job in the first place?

Chairboy experienced the freedom of flying, had a midlife crisis and wanted to be his own boss doing the Tony Robbins thing.

At least he learend to fly ;)

Congrats Chair.  And please please remember and please please don't post anything to make me say it again...

The instrument rating is the rating that's a license to kill yourself once you've earned your license to learn.
