Having a good cook can be a great thing.
Being around a great cook is pure heaven on earth.
Yep, I likes me grub.

When I was young, living on the family farm, my grandmother`s
job was to keep things ticking householdwise. Of course the main thing was cooking the meals. Maaaaaaaan..........could she ever cook. An everyday, run of the mill, breakfast/lunch or dinner (supper for us Texicans) prepared by her was looked forward to everyday. Most everything was farmed raised with the exception of the staples such as flour, salt, etc.
She would be up when the hens were still on the roost, in the kitchen. Breakfast was awesome. Preparations for lunch were underway as we ate breakfast.
11:00 A.M. was lunch time and you had better not be late coming in out of the fields or pastures. Great stuff that was.
Married my current wife when she was 17. First thing I did was introduce her to my grandmother and steered her into some good, old fashion, cooking lessons.
Momma didn`t raise no fool.

The BBQ`n is MY job. A woman tending a grill or smoker is nearly unforgivable.

The problem I have lived with until just recently has been with grocery stores and the lack of quality mixed with high prices for their products has always been a bee under my saddle.
Additives, coloring and flavor enchancers just don`t cut it for me.
Recently, after a couple of rounds with the local chain, (Brookshires), I had had more than enough.
The first round I even contacted cooperate HQ in regards to paying top prices for what was supposed to top of the line, select beef only to find that it wouldn`t make good saddle leather. Prices were ridiculous.......I mean ridiculous.
Last round was when I totaly lost it and went primal on their arses over a friggen mouthy employee. Enough was enough. I figured if I was going to have to risk going to jail over losing it on some moronic mouth every time I went to buy some grub.....to hell with it.
I did what I had been threateneing to do for years. I went in search of a small, family owned meat market that selected their own meat and did the cutting, prepartions needed themselves.
Found a small, family owned and operated meat market that does just that.
They do their own curing, smoking, slicing and all other preparations right there, on the spot.
Been buying freezer packs from them and I`m more than a happy camper. Much lower prices and much higher quality. No more paying for additives, coloring, soybean byproducts, fat, etc. etc.
As an added extra bonus, if I decide I want something a little different such as gator tail for BBQ`n or to whip up some ostrich kabobs...............maybe some hand made andoullie..........they got it.
Life is good.
