Schumacher restores Germany's pride
Spa-Francorchamps, he left the circuit yesterday as the most prodigious race winner in the history of the sport.
Schumacher’s 52nd career victory, one more than the record held by Alain Prost, was ample demonstration of his mastery of modern Formula One.
as he drove unchallenged to a victory that acted as an antidote to the disappointment of seeing his beloved Germany take a thrashing from England in Munich’s Olympic Stadium. The football fanatic watched the match with Ross Brawn, his technical director. When Michael Owen fired in England’s third goal, it was more than Schumacher could take and he sought the sanctuary of his bed.
Schumacher said.
“I have to admit I was a bit down after the result but England hadn’t beaten Germany in Germany for 36 years, so I can live with that. Winning like this at Spa is magical for me. It is where I started and now I have broken the record here.”He now rises head and shoulders above Formula One with records galore. There can be no questioning Schumacher’s pre-eminence, particularly here where the German has won five times in ten years, but sometimes you wonder whether the rest of Formula One really wants to win.
at least we can allways bet on our Uber-Schumi!
