Spit1 problem - solution
« on: July 27, 2006, 07:27:46 PM »
Techinically we have the Spit1A, right? Why not just rename it to 1a, then we get "spit1a1" through "spit1a15" -- and we don't run into spit14, spit16 problems.

Or, more logically.

Make the 14 and 16 into SpitXIV and SpitXVI as that is the hanger designator anyhow.

It is easier to rename just 1 plane, that only has a few skins, than it is to rename 2 planes, both with many skins each.

Sure... But there are potentially 9 designators (mk 10 to 19) that could conflict.. Using roman numerals would eliminate all possible conflicts... Sure, right now you need to change 2.. But in the long run its better.

Was speaking to Skuzzy, and funnily enough thats exactly what I suggested.

Kurt - There are potentially a lot more than 10 designators -

Ia,Ib
IIa, IIb
Va, Vb, Vc
VI
VII
VIII
IXc, IXe
XII
XIV
XVI
F.21

They don't include PR Versions.

In total there were 24 individual Mks of Spits, not including the sub-variants.

Regardless of the solution, we have to issue a patch to fix it.  Just FYI.

Skuzzy, thanks

I figured as much, but it's good to hear the official word.
