Night Bomber And Intercept Mission
« on: July 31, 2006, 12:25:17 PM »
My friends and I often practice in the 8 player room and mess with the settings of existing maps.  On one map I made it a night time mission into Germany it was the map with the snow covered ground. I really liked the feel of the mission and wondered if anyone at all would be interested in this as a scenario. .bomber groups into germany on a night time mission with specific aims and objectives. Night fighter groups on intercept. only 1 life per person and a bomber and fighter score box at the end.We tried it without icons and I really dont know how those guys did it, its real hard. Wew also found the way we had it set up that seeing the target got alot harder as you gained altitude...no I mean alot harder lol. Its just a thought but it would be quite a battle if we could get alot of people interested. Anyway....what do you think ???? HTC.... How many people would I need to get to make it worth running ????

You will find some Snapshots and about half the Close Escorts doing night missions.

One problem with night missions is the large difference between player’s PCs.  For some, night is a totally black screen while for others it’s not much different then day with a black sky and darkened ground tiles.  Players must be allowed to adjust their in-game gamma to make it playable.

Special Events are run by the volunteer CM Staff.
Easy in-game again.

In the past there has been a lot of crap tossed at guys for adjusting their gamma and the practice has gotten a bad wrap.

Tell you what jd7, turn your gamma down to the point you can't see stars, and so you can't see the instruments in your cockpit, then come back and tell me you want to fly like that or that it's fair because that's exactly what a lot of people see at the default gamma settings.

I admin CE and I'm up front with all players, I tell them to adjust their gamma to an acceptable level for immersion and play balance. Not to do so puts some at an unfair disadvantage and results in people leaving for no good reason.

Be sure to check the Snapshot schedule for Wednesday nights. We've run several night missions in the last couple of months and there WILL be others.

Also, there will be GV's included in some snapshot events!

No worry, I didn't take it that way and once upon a time I bought into the... chatter... until I saw two machines running night side by side.  I was trying to make a point and give you and others reading the thread, an idea what it's like.

lol.ok Its just that I was thinking more along the lines of a really large scensario like the "downfall" one. 100 sets of buffs trying to hit multiple targets.a scoreboard to stirrup competition and only one life.If you die you die. Run it on a regular basis say once a month. I dunno maybe no one would be interested I just thought it was cool out and about at night.I will certainly look for the night events you run already.
