Can't Hit Offline Drones With Osti

Is it possible to hit the offline drones with the Osti?  If so, how?

A little background:

OK - I've read zazen's post and he says not to shoot at anything over 1k.

Offline I've got the LCS (Lead Computing Site) turned on & I'm shooting at the drones when they're more than 1k but less than 2k away.  Yes - in direct contradiction to zazen's advice, but hey - why not push it?

Now, when I put the crosshairs on the + sign the target is not way over on the edge of the screen as I would suspect from zazen's post. Yes - I'm zoomed all the way in.

Also, I don't hit anything. Nada, not even close.  Can't even hit the flying barn (B-24).

Anyone?

You really have to lead the target.  Try recording the action and see where your tracer rounds are landing.  You'll be surprised how far you have to lead the target.

To answer your confusion about the green cross leading less then what Zazen suggests in his post:

The difference of speed in the target is the key. Target movement in the time your bullet needs to travel to target adds to lead. now, the faster your target is and the slower your bullet (Osti gun has a very slow muzzle speed, compared to plane mounted guns for example) - the more lead ypi need to pull.

The drones offline fly rather slow (im not sure, i think around 160-180 mph?). Zazen is talking about hitting planes that make high speed passes on a base that is attacked (think speeds above 250 mph). Hence the difference in lead.
21 is only half the truth.

it has been a loooong time since i tried, but i have killed offline planes before, takes about a full screen width lead when zoomed 1/2 way in IIRC

Ok - I recorded my attempts & I did manage to hit the B-24 by aiming in front & above the LCS + point.  I believe that the LCS doesn't take into account drag on the rounds, just gravity & muzzle velocity.

It was hard to pick out my shots from the rest of the field ack - is there a field that I can use that the auto ack won't be shooting at the drones or can I turn them off somehow?

I think the next step is to start recording my attempts online & see where my rounds are going when shooting at a more representative sample of the population.  The kind that's trying to kill me rather than circle the field slowly, that is.

The only downside is that now, thanks to zazen, whenever a fighter sees a flak panzer defending a field, they stay hi and fast!  ;)

You can change country to the sides the drones are on to stop the field guns from interfereing. That would be Country 2 , Knights.
You can change via the O'Club option on clipboard or using the 'country 2' dot command.
