WOW! i have front row seats - the race circuit covers greenwich st. which is one block from my apartment.

they are really flying - right now they are 6 laps thru and the usps 'lance' team just pulled to the lead pack. there are a few breakaway packs in front and the mass behind that. they made the race route go up filmore street which is so steep in some places the sidewalk has been made into stairs. you can see their veins bulging going up those hills and some are even zig zagging.

i got some great pictures and will post em after they are developed.

the sfpd have done an incredible job at keeping traffic moving especially since the 9'ers are at home today. amazing that it's going at all considering they really shut this town down for the race. friggin amazing amazing.

hincapie burnin em on taylor hill for the lead and the win - man what a race. whoohoo

the crowds were out on the streets in force, blaring music, cooking up some hotdogs, running alongside, having some brews and the occasional j. the police (all on double overtime no doubt) just let everyone get loose and kept things moving. there was hardly a hitch in traffic anywhere i saw. it's a great event, those in the area come catch it next year.

and they ended it just in time to catch the best part of the 9'ers game. can't beat that!

huge bike race - you should know they had a cannuck in the 4 person leader pack up til the last few laps.

Hell you're right Fish...I should have noticed we were one canuck short up here and started looking for him!
