BlkKnit,

Sorry...didn't know you were there.  Next time I'm in that area I'll give ya a call.

The unit I was visiting was NWARJP at Mansfield.  North West Arkansas Regional Juvenile Program.

i did jury duty about 2 years ago. it was a manslaughter charge. a guy driving WAY to fast on 635 slammed into a minivan killing 2 women.
I remember during selection how pitiful his lawyer told him to look while we were doing the Q&A stuff. He tried to lok all sorry (not innocent) and had the "poor me take pity" thing going full tilt.

we found him guilty after 15 mins of deliberation. he got 12 years :D
maybe im selfish but i think he got off lite. I remember when the verdict was read he was looking at all of us and the poor me look was gone....he actually looked kinda smug but when he heard the "guilty" on both counts he started balling:cry ...ill never forget when he looked up i was smiling at him and at that moment I KNEW we had made the right decision.
because he had the most arrogant, hate filled uncaring , insufferable "i dont give a damn" look.....nothing but a thrill seeking punk.

The 2 women that died in the accident were mother and doughter. the doughter was driving and she had JUST gotten her full driving license. he hit them doing approx 90 mph. just clipping the left read bumper sending the van into a spin and overturning it. Mr. crybaby was also charged with leaving the scene since he decided to go HOME. his excuse was he hit his lil head, and was confused and skeered and that he was gonna call the police as soon as he got home.
turns out he musta fergot till the next morning when the police woke sleeping beauty up and arrested him.
consensus is that he was drunk but, they couldnt prove it by then.

sorry rant over, guess that case still gets me worked up.
Crap now I gotta redo my cool sig.....crap!!! I cant remeber how to do it all !!!!!

Avoiding jury duty is getting tougher.  The last time I got called, they made me come back everyday for a week, and when I asked when I could stop coming, I was told, "When you have served, you will be released.".

BlkKnit,

It is a juvenile facility, privately owned but directed by DYS.  I work at SEARJP in the southeastern portion of the state near Dermott.

I've never been called to serve on a jury. I've been called for jury duty but never chosen. I'd love it if I could serve but something about my background always seems to get me eliminated.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
