Fire in the Skies over Guad - Frame 2
« on: July 29, 2006, 12:55:52 AM »
Air battles raged all day long in the Solomons.  Both sides clashed in battles to the death thousands of feet above the calm waters.  Allied airmen fought bravely and many flew multiple sorties relentlessly attacking the enemy strongholds in the central Solomons.  Several pilots made 'ace in a day' and earned their place in history.  The Allied carrier (name withheld) played an integral role in the attacks.

Japanese pilots held their own downing many allied airmen.  Henderson field along with Tulagi took the brunt of the attacks from enemy dive bombers.  The Japanese pilots some with visible damage to their aircraft carried out their bombing runs pounding the small Allied field determined to throw the Americans out of the Solomons.

At days end it is hard to say who came out the victor, both sides lost many good pilots, initial reports show that the Japanese bases were ablaze all over the central Solomons.

Score

Allied

500 pts for kills
352 points for objects destroyed

Total - 852 points

Axis

450 pts for kills
249 pts for objects destroyed

total - 699 points

Good frame folks, I hope all saw some action and had a good time.

All.
We did the best we could. Really unhappy on our second strike at A10. There were 3 to 5 F4U's egressing from the base when we announced we were coming on station, and they went and left us to deal with the A6M's. We died!
Destiny brought you here, now FATE will deal with your six!

Damn, we're in a tight spot!

no offense bannor but our orders were to protect v4,A1,a41 and p31.  Not to escort.  AK's were the only F4U's.  Your escort were f4f's and p40's.  They failed ya then.  Sry if we were near but I never heard the call for zekes near our bombers that were near us.  The furtherest our squad was 10 miles west of v4 until the very end with 30 mins of time left, did we venture out towards a10 to kill the last 4 zekes up.  We were told to go hunting for the last 4 planes up.

oooh that we were >< that close to each other.  Our squad was tasked with fighter sweep of v4/a1 but we got side tracked by those huge formations of sbd, tbms, p40s that we hit around A5.  And as you know once you're in 1 fight with a a6m2 you have to head home for more ammo.  I do believe one of our squad shot down a f4u, so technically we must have engaged the CAP at v4

Can't wait for this week's action.  Even if we are in sbd's we'll be happy (well maybe not Nifty, he's hoping the IJN can up some confiscated spitfires).

I dunno what you're talking about.  I love the Zeke.

What I like even more for these is the Val.  Please give the Mongrels the Val this week!  :D
