Throttle for GV's
« on: July 28, 2006, 10:16:41 AM »
Not sure if this issue has been covered before, but I think it would be nice to have the throttle linked to the GV's rather than using the stick. Why? Because it would be nice to be able to set a speed that is for instance faster than 3rd (½ tracks) but slower than 4th. It would also allow you to suddenly alter your speed when in the gun position to help with buff defensability. You'd still be able to use the gears in the drivers seat, but it adds a bit of versatility and finesse to the drivability.:aok

I can set gv speeds with my stick perfectly and then switch to the gunner position without a difference in speed

hmmm I'll have to learn me that trick... when I do it, it just goes to max throttle for that gear.
The other reason for the idea was to allow variance of the throttle while in the gun position.

I'd love to see the GV work the same as the PT -- which DOES have throttle speed control.

This would be cool and I've often thought about posting the same request. However, while PT's, M16's, M3's, Jeeps, and I belive M8's (armored car and not a tank) all have gas pedals and thus a seperate throttle from the steering wheel (or joystick in our case) I'm not sure that Tanks, and LVT's did which would make sence to have these vehicles throttle tied to the stick.

maybe, but they also have steering control via the twisty bit of the stick while in the gunner position, so why not throttle control as well? I'm sure the tank commander would have been able to get the driver to alter speed and direction while on the move.
