PC problems
« on: April 11, 2007, 02:29:54 PM »
My comp is pretty much screwed but I'm hoping I can squeeze  a few more months out of it but there's something total messed up with the defrag program.

Everytime I try to defrag or analize, it says that ChkDsk is scheduled to run and to run it.  So I try to run check disk and it always errors out before continuing.

Also, when i start up the system, before it goes to the desktop, i get text saying that that the c: directory cannot be accessed.. then it goes to desktop.

So far, this is effecting internet access... firefox cant see the web but Explorere can.. netscape cant.

Some sites cant be accessed at all like yahoo mail... this is all very weird.

I've checked for bugs.. none.  Spyware... none.

I'm starting to think I need to get a new hard drive but that means buying OS again as I don't have the disks so I'm just hoping there's a fix.

This thing has not been defraged for about 6 months now and over all this... it runs slow as hell now.

2.6 ghz

Anythoughts before I have to bit the bullet?

pot shot but run memtest 86 if you can get a friend to download it from the net.  Maybe you got some bad memory.
